Smart technology will always be on the top of any list when it comes to trend. Smart home lighting has actually been gaining popularity since late 2018. However, due to cost and reluctance of some, it has not been widely accepted up to now. 

Smart home lighting will allow you to control the brightness of your home. You may even schedule your lighting beforehand and set it to something particular at a specific time of day. It basically helps you to cut down on chores, aids you especially when you’re out of town, or working extended hours in the office.

Majority of smart lighting technologies have voice control, motion sensor, and can even be linked to your home theater or speakers. Most can also be controlled via your phone, tablets, and desk computers. So choose a brand and model that will suit your needs. 

With any development comes a downside. For smart lighting, here are some cons you should take note of

•  Most ordinary light bulbs do not work with smart lighting. Hence, you have to change it all when necessary. It is usually centralized meaning everything should be bought as a package.
•  Some of the light bulbs that work with the technology comes with chargers. If you lose the charger, then it wont work. 
•  Smartphone applications that cater smart lighting usually have system updates, meaning it is really yet to be fully developed
•  There are reviews that smart bulbs are not as bright as ordinary bulbs and has significant difference
•  Since smart lighting is controlled via applications, there will always be a risk of hacking and the like

Some will say that smart home lighting makes life more efficient and obviously convenient. On the other hand, others will argue that it is unnecessary and is a technology yet to be perfected and may even cause security issues. Will you join the trend of installing smart home lighting?

Brass and Gold lighting fixtures will continue to be trendy in the coming year. Adding class and elegance to your home, these lighting fixtures which started to be a trend in late 2019 can still be a go to for those with modern Scandinavian theme. 

Brass and gold lighting fixtured are perfect for warm and white rooms as it can easily stand out and draw the attention of your visitors.

This trend without a doubt gives a luxurious and edgy vibe to your home. But do note that in using brass and gold fixtures, you’re supposed to be consistent or else it can be distracting and confusing. In the next room though, you may opt for a chrome or bronze finish. Just don’t combine two metal fixtures (except black) in one room or in an open concept.
